Pollyanna on Migraines

Let's play the glad game!

Migraines are a natural appetite suppressant, and if I'm lucky enough to get to the puking stage, I don't have to count the calories of the last four or five things I ate!

Having a migraine gives me Super Powers, Super Senses, if you prefer. Everything smells so much more intense. My vision gets all fun; I really get to see things in a whole new light. And my hearing. . .oh the sensitivity! I can hear things that normally would be completely ignored. Lucky me.

With a migraine, all those pesky little have-tos just go away. I get to clear my calender of everything. How often does that happen? If I was functional, I'd have to do the dishes or laundry. I'd need to drive the kids around. Stand up. Talk to people. Open my eyes. Instead I get to lounge around all day.

Talk about things to be thankful for!

I have to admit, I'm so grateful I've never had one. Hope you feel better!

How can I forget? The most glad thing of all! It's gone!

I get them but I get the easy version. Spots, blinding pain I mask with 800 mg of something or other, sleep it off for three hours and I'm fine. I have shadow pain all day when I bend over or cough (which totally doesn't sound right but whatever) and I get a little ditzy but that's about it. I only puke if I don't knock the pain meds down fast enough. AND, I generally only get the migraines at all if I'm dehydrated. So I have the added bonus of being furious with myself if I get one, but for the most part, being able to stave them off.

I hope you feel better!

I've only ever had one migraine. Notwithstanding all the things to be thankful for...I only ever want to have one migraine!

Oh yeah, I forgot the joy of being able to let go of the burden over-intellectualizing everything. Ditzy. That's the right word.

My migraines are similar, Melanie. Though a good set of flashing lights PLUS dehydration defies the 800 mg of something.

I started getting migraines in junior high, its been awhile so I can be thankful for that! But I pretty much always get to the point where I start puking. Lovely. What is actually lovely is the way you wrote this! :)

Empathizing in a big way. :(

Why not try looking at the bright side of things for a change, instead of all this complaining.

Ah Mary, you see through my Pollyanna act to the whiny/grumpy core of my post.

That Mary is a jewel, isn't she? I hope the migraine is gone by now. Take your herbs!
